AdFast's Adseal 1940 Series Hybrid Sealant, available in CanExel colors, is a high-performance solution designed for exterior applications such as doors, windows, and siding. This sealant offers excellent adhesion to various substrates, including aluminum, glass, masonry, and some plastics, making it versatile for different construction needs.
Key Features:
- Color Matching: The Adseal 1940 Series is available in a wide array of colors that align with popular siding options, including James Hardie and Maibec CanExel Engineered Siding. This ensures a seamless and aesthetically pleasing finish for your projects.
- Durability: Formulated to withstand extreme weather conditions, this hybrid sealant maintains its flexibility and integrity without cracking or splitting, even through multiple heat and cold cycles.
- Eco-Friendly: The sealant is solvent-free, isocyanate-free, and phthalate-free, contributing to a healthier environment. Additionally, it has low VOC content and low odor, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
- Paintability: Adseal 1940 becomes tack-free within 10 to 30 minutes and is ready to paint after 30 minutes, allowing for efficient project timelines.
- UV Resistance: The sealant exhibits excellent resistance to UV rays, ensuring long-lasting performance without degradation when exposed to sunlight.
Installation Tips:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as oil, dust, or old sealant. Proper surface cleaning is crucial for a durable assembly or caulking.
- Application Conditions: The sealant can be applied in temperatures as low as -17°C, providing flexibility for various climatic conditions.
- Joint Design: Leave a 5 mm (3/16 in.) gap wherever siding butts against trim or other materials to allow for expansion. Use J-mould or sealant to fill the gap.
- Tooling: After applying the sealant, shape the bead using appropriate tooling before skin formation. This can be facilitated with a solution of 5% clear dishwashing liquid and water to achieve a smooth finish.
- Painting: Once the sealant has cured (typically after 30 minutes), it can be painted to match the surrounding materials, enhancing the overall appearance.
