Designed for use with nominal 4x, 6x, 8x, and 10x lumber, the side plates are installed flush to the top of the post-base strap legs, ensuring a seamless integration. Fasteners are sold separately, and each box contains two decorative side plates.

When selecting Simpson Strong-Tie post bases, it’s essential to know the difference between rough and nominal lumber:
- Nominal Lumber: Standard milled wood with smaller actual dimensions (e.g., a 4x4 measures 3.5" x 3.5"). Most post bases are designed for nominal sizes.
- Rough Lumber: Unsurfaced wood retaining larger dimensions (e.g., a 4x4 measures 4" x 4"). Specialized post bases or oversized options are required.
Ensure a proper fit for secure fastening and structural integrity. Simpson Strong-Tie labels their post bases for compatibility with rough or nominal lumber. Always measure your lumber before selecting a base.
